Delete a comment attachment

You can remove a file attached to a comment by deleting it from the comment itself or the comment altogether. 

Who can use this?

Permissions:

  • Owner
  • Admin
  • Editor

Find out if this capability is included in Smartsheet Regions or Smartsheet Gov.

Owners and Admins can create, reply to, and delete comments and attached items. Editors can create or respond to a comment. Anyone accessing the sheet can view, download, or print items attached to comments.

You can't remove a file attached to a comment from the Attachments panel; the Delete File will be grayed out.  

To go to the comment from the Attachments panel, select comment under the filename.

  1. Select the More icon  Kebab menu icon to the right of the comment.
  2. Select Edit comment.

If the Edit comment option is grayed out, you do not have the necessary permissions. Contact the person who left the comment or the sheet's Owner or Admin to request they remove the comment or the attachment.

  1. Hover over the attachment you want to remove and select the​ Delete icon. The item should now be removed from the comment and the sheet.
